I came across this accidentally on Facebook, and wanted to hone in my opinion on this.
First off I would like to state that the term ‘rock is dead’, is not saying that rock itself if dead. The meaning has more significance than the term bares. Instead of stating that Rock itself is dead, it’s saying that creationism, and music that was once legendary and great, is no more.
People are getting famous, singing, and performing for all the wrong reasons. People seem to be attracted to popularity, or beauty rather than the actual music. Legends are born when they create their own music, and move the masses with a simple chord or lyric.
These days you have all these dancing monkeys becoming famous, and singing music produced by a company instead of writing their own lyrics, melodies, etc.
Like everything else in our world music has been taken by the system, and replaced by a robot that’s producing sounds, melodies, and lyrics probably based on a popular statistic or social basis.
Honestly it’s depressing, I want to see music happen like the old days, with great minds that create art and can move the world by feeding us metaphoric lyrics that take us to a different place, and change our minds based on that one lyric.
That’s my opinion on this whole thing, and I’m glad Gene Simmons spoke on this, because he’s right, rock is absolutely dead.
